At Kingswood College, we are committed to championing a safe and inclusive environment where every child and young person feels empowered, valued, and heard.
One of the most important aspects of this is helping students understand their right to safety, information, and participation. We always endeavour to integrate these messages into our curriculum and daily interactions, building students’ confidence to speak up when something doesn’t feel right. Friendships and peer support also play a vital role in making children feel safe and connected. Through student leadership opportunities and our strong pastoral care structure, we actively encourage positive relationships to celebrate a sense of belonging.
We also provide age-appropriate protective education programs to help students recognise unsafe situations and seek support when needed. These programs ensure that children and young people have the knowledge and tools to protect themselves while reinforcing the importance of trusted adults in their lives. Listening to students is at the heart of a child-safe culture. Our staff are trained to recognise signs of harm and to create safe, child-friendly avenues for students to express concerns, participate in decision-making, and share their views. Our Student Representative Committee (SRC), feedback forums, and open-door policies all contribute to an environment where young people feel supported and heard.
Child safety is a shared responsibility, and by working together, we can continue to build a culture where every student feels safe, supported, and empowered.
