At Kingswood College, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our highest priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to child safety, we will be focusing on one of the 11 Child Safe Standards each week, ensuring our community understands these important guidelines that all schools are required to implement.
This week, we begin with Standard 1: Establishing a Culturally Safe Environment.
A culturally safe environment is one where the diverse and unique identities of all children, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, are respected and valued. This means ensuring that our policies, practices, and school culture promote inclusion and actively challenge racism and discrimination.
Over the coming weeks, we will continue to explore each of the 11 Child Safe Standards and how they are embedded in the fabric of our College. We invite our community to engage in this journey with us, ensuring that Kingswood College remains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for every child.
At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
