Reflecting on a Remarkable Term
As we reach the conclusion of Term 2, I am struck by the breadth of experiences, opportunities and achievements that have filled our College over the past ten weeks.
From the first days of term, our students immersed themselves in learning beyond the classroom. Our Year 6 students enjoyed a memorable Canberra experience, deepening their understanding of Australia's history, government and national identity. Across the College, excursions, tours, performances and special events provided countless opportunities for students to learn, grow and connect.
This term has also been rich in celebration. Open Day showcased the very best of Kingswood College, with students and staff proudly sharing their learning and passions with prospective families. We welcomed many parents and carers to events such as the Mother's Day Breakfast, Kingswood Talks with Andrew Fuller and numerous concerts, assemblies and exhibitions throughout the term. The performing arts have once again been a source of great pride. Our Secondary Production captivated audiences with the talent, dedication and courage of our students and staff. Our Junior School Soiree, lunchtime concerts, music recital evening and VCE Theatre Studies performances highlighted the depth of artistic talent that exists across our community. As I write, House Performing Arts is bringing the term to a wonderful conclusion, with students embracing creativity, teamwork and healthy competition in true Kingswood fashion. In sport, our students demonstrated determination and perseverance through EISM competitions, athletics events and excellent outcomes in grand finals. Regardless of results, it is always pleasing to see our students represent the College with such enthusiasm and pride. Our students have also continued to engage deeply with experiences that develop character and independence. Programs such as City Cite, the Junior School Intensive Swimming Program and House activities challenged students to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills and strengthen friendships. This term also included significant moments in the life of our College community. We gathered to honour those who have served our nation through our ANZAC commemorations, recognised National Sorry Day, and celebrated the renaming of our Early Learning Centre to the Elisabeth Lenders Imaginarium—a fitting tribute to a leader whose contribution to Kingswood College has left a lasting legacy.
None of these opportunities would be possible without the extraordinary commitment of our exceptional staff. Every excursion, rehearsal, sporting event, camp, concert, assembly and classroom experience reflects the dedication of people who care deeply about our students and their growth. I thank them sincerely for their professionalism, generosity and unwavering commitment to our vision of emboldening hearts and inspiring minds. I would also like to thank our families for your ongoing partnership and support. Schools thrive when families and educators work together, and we are fortunate to be part of such a connected and supportive community. As the term concludes, I encourage every family to take time to rest, recharge and enjoy the company of those who matter most. Whether your holidays are filled with travel, adventure or simply quieter moments together, I hope they provide an opportunity to pause, reflect and reconnect.
We look forward to welcoming students back for Term 3 refreshed, energised and ready for another exciting chapter in the life of Kingswood College.
Wishing you all a safe, restful and enjoyable break.
