The Importance of "Showing Up"
One of the things I continue to admire most about our young people is their willingness to keep showing up, even when life feels hectic, challenging, or uncertain.
At this point in the term, many students are balancing assessments, co-curricular commitments, friendships, family responsibilities, and the normal ups and downs that come with growing up. For some, simply walking through the College gates each morning takes great determination. Yet time and again, our students do exactly that. They show up for their classes, for their musical and sporting teams, for rehearsals, for camps, performances, service opportunities, and most importantly, for one another.
Sometimes underestimate the importance of consistency. We often celebrate big achievements like awards, results, performances, and victories, but behind every success are hundreds of small moments of perseverance. Completing homework when tired. Continuing to practise an instrument after making mistakes. Trying again after receiving a disappointing SAC result. Sitting beside a friend who needs support. Character is rarely built in grand moments. More often, it is shaped in the everyday decision to keep going. Schools have the privilege of seeing this growth unfold over time. A student who once lacked confidence volunteers to lead an assembly. A child hesitant to join in discovers a sense of belonging on camp or on the sporting field.
At Kingswood College, we understand that progress is not about always getting everything right. It is about developing the courage to participate fully in life, even when things are difficult. Learning to persevere, collaborate, contribute, and care deeply for others are qualities that will serve them long after their school years have ended. As we move towards the latter half of the term, we acknowledge the importance of simply continuing to show up each day with kindness, effort, and purpose. Those small daily actions often become the foundation for extraordinary growth.
Thank you, as always, for the partnership we share in supporting our young people.

At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
