At Kingswood College, our commitment to child safety is not only evident in our day-to-day interactions with students but also firmly embedded in our policies and procedures. Child Safe Standard 11 ensures that organisations like ours have clear, accessible, and well-informed documentation to support a child-safe culture.
This standard requires that all policies and procedures address each of the eleven Child Safe Standards. These documents must be easy to understand and accessible to everyone in our community and they must also be informed by best practice. Importantly, leadership must model and promote these practices, and all staff and volunteers are expected to understand and implement them consistently. As a school, we have taken deliberate steps to meet and exceed these expectations. Our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy, Code of Conduct, Risk Management Plans, and Complaints Handling Policy are relevant, and written in plain language. These documents are available to staff, students, and families and are supported by training sessions to ensure ongoing understanding and compliance.
Child safety at our school is led from the top. Our leadership teams demonstrate a strong and visible commitment to these standards, ensuring they are integrated into all aspects of school life. This leadership extends to ensuring every staff member knows their role in maintaining a safe environment for our students and acts in line with our shared expectations. The Commission for Children and Young People will assess compliance with this standard by reviewing the presence and effectiveness of these documents and practices. We are confident that Kingswood College continues to meet this standard through our proactive, inclusive, and comprehensive approach. Our policies do not simply sit on a shelf—they are living documents that guide our everyday actions, helping us create a school environment where every student feels safe, supported, and respected.
At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
