Visual Art

At Kingswood College, we believe every student has the capacity to be creative, and the Visual Arts provide a space where imagination, curiosity, and expression can flourish.

At Kingswood College, the Visual Arts are celebrated as a vital part of our students’ education and growth. We believe that creativity is central to learning, and our art programs provide opportunities to explore, experiment, and express ideas through a wide range of media and practices. From drawing and painting to digital design, printmaking, sculpture, and architecture, students are encouraged to develop both technical skills and their own artistic voice. Throughout the year, artworks are showcased in physical and online galleries, with high-quality pieces reflecting the innovation and dedication of Kingswood artists across all year levels.

Beyond the classroom, the Visual Arts thrive as a cocurricular offering at Kingswood. Students passionate about art are supported through lunchtime workshops and the SEEK Art extension program, where they explore challenging subject matter, experiment with new materials, and develop complex projects. Visiting artists, gallery excursions, and opportunities to showcase work provide authentic insights into the wider arts community.

These experiences build confidence, collaboration, and critical thinking, while helping students see themselves as part of a vibrant creative culture.

Students also take part in a variety of artistic experiences across the year, from internal exhibitions and visiting artist workshops to excursions to state and regional galleries. Many extend their practice further by entering external exhibitions and competitions, gaining valuable experience and recognition beyond the school setting.

The Visual Arts at Kingswood have a proud history of nurturing young artists who go on to further study and careers in creative industries. Students have received recognition in regional and national awards, and alumni continue to contribute to the arts as designers, artists, educators, and creative thinkers. Our commitment is not only to artistic outcomes but to the journey of growth, resilience, and creative confidence that art fosters.

At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
