Prep, Set, GO!

Prep, Set, GO! is a free parent event series from Kingswood College designed to take some of the mystery out of starting school and help families feel informed, confident and ready for the transition to Prep.

Led by our Junior School educators, each practical session will explore a different part of the transition to school, from the social and emotional skills that matter most, to early literacy and numeracy, friendships, and building a strong partnership with your child’s school.

You’ll hear from experienced educators about what school readiness really looks like, the simple things families can do at home, and how working closely with your child’s ELC educators and future school can help set them up for a positive start.

Reading, Counting & Confidence

Wednesday 2 September 9.30am - 10.15am

Forget racing to get ahead. This session is about building the foundations for learning. We’ll explore early literacy and numeracy, how to recognise and build on your child’s emerging skills and interests, and simple ways to encourage curiosity, confidence and a love of learning at home.

Finding Their People

Tuesday 13 October 9.30am - 10.15am

Friendships are a huge part of starting school.

We’ll talk about making friends, navigating the inevitable bumps along the way, and how parents can help children develop the social skills and resilience they need to find their place and feel that they belong.

Team Child

Wednesday 28 October 9.30am - 10.15am

Children thrive when the important adults in their lives work together. Our final session explores the partnership between families, ELC educators and school, including how to communicate, when to reach out, what to ask, and how a strong home-school relationship can support your child throughout their transition.
