4-Year Old Kindergarten
Growing in Confidence: Preparing children for a confident start to school
Our 4-Year-Old Kindergarten program supports children as they prepare for the exciting transition to Prep and formal schooling.
Through a rich combination of play-based learning, inquiry, specialist programs and
school readiness experiences, children develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for a successful start to school.
Building School Readiness
School readiness is about much more than letters and numbers.
At Kingswood College, children develop the capabilities that support future learning,
including:
• Confidence and independence
• Communication skills
• Emotional resilience
• Social awareness
• Literacy and numeracy skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Collaboration and teamwork
Our experienced educators work closely with families to ensure each child is supported
according to their individual strengths and needs.
A Seamless Transition to Prep
Because our Kindergarten is part of a Prep to Year 12 school, children become familiar with the people and places that will form part of their future learning journey.
Throughout the year, children engage with aspects of school life including:
• ELC/Junior School Buddies Program Shared events and celebrations, for
example Book Week, Lunar New Year, Easter and Christmas services
• Specialist learning spaces
• Assemblies and community activities
By the time children enter Prep, the environment already feels familiar and
welcoming.
Specialist Learning Opportunities
Children in our 4-Year-Old Kindergarten participate in specialist programs including:
• Music
• Chinese
• Visual Arts
• Library
• Perceptual Motor Program (PMP)
These experiences support creativity, communication, physical development and confidence while enriching children's learning beyond the traditional kindergarten setting.
More Than a Kindergarten
At Kingswood College, 4-Year-Old Kindergarten is the beginning of a connected educational journey.
Children are encouraged to imagine who they might become as they see musicians, artists, athletes, leaders and performers learning across the campus every day.
Small beginnings can lead to big futures.
Attendance Options
Families can choose to enrol their child in the program for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days each week.
The specific days of attendance can be selected to suit each family's circumstances, subject to availability when enrolment is confirmed.
At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
