Choral Scholarship

For students commencing Years 5 to 11 in 2027 and 2028.

Choral Scholarships at Kingswood College recognise students who demonstrate strong choral ability, musical understanding, and a genuine commitment to vocal performance. These scholarships are designed for students with experience in high level choirs who are motivated to contribute positively to the musical and cultural life of the College.

Scholarship applications close on Wednesday 2 September, 2026.

About the Choral Scholarship

Choral Scholarships are awarded to students who have significant experience singing in choirs, either within their current schools or through external ensembles. Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for choral performance, a strong understanding of rehearsal processes, and the ability to contribute positively to the Kingswood College Choral Program.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Applicants are expected to demonstrate:

  • Experience performing in established choirs at a high level
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for choral performance
  • Understanding of choral rehearsal processes
  • Knowledge of appropriate choral technique
  • Established sight reading skills
  • Capacity to contribute positively to the musical culture of the College.

How Applications are Assessed

Choral Scholarships are awarded through a multistage assessment process that includes:

  • Review of the submitted application and supporting documents
  • Submission of a choral portfolio
  • Audition and interview for shortlisted applicants
  • Assessment of musical ability, sight reading skills, and commitment to choral participation.

Audition Details

Applicants for a Choral Scholarship are required to attend an audition.

  • Audition details will be provided after completed application received
  • Audition format includes performing the applicant’s vocal part in two choral works using a supplied full choir recording, demonstrating sight reading ability, and participating in a short interview.

Attendance at the scheduled audition is required for all Choral Scholarship applicants.

Required Application Documents

As part of the application process, applicants must upload the following:

  • A copy of the student’s birth certificate
     
  • Evidence of Australian citizenship or permanent residency if applicable
     
  • Copies of the student’s two most recent school reports
     
  • A copy of the student’s most recent NAPLAN results (if applicable)
     
  • Copies of any awards or certificates for choral achievement.

Scholarship Value and Conditions

Choral Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Principal and offer a part tuition fee remission for the duration of the student’s education at Kingswood College. 

Successful applicants are required to participate fully in the College Choral Program and may be expected to undertake leadership roles within Kingswood choirs when requested.

Applicant Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents
  • Applicants must be a current Year 4 – 10 student for entry in 2027 and a current Year 3 - 9 student for entry in 2028.
  • Applications are open to new and current Kingswood College students.

By applying, students are confirming their intention to remain part of the Kingswood College community for the longer term.
