At Kingswood College, we are unwavering in our commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all children and young people. This week, we highlight Child Safe Standard 10, which focuses on the importance of continuous review, evaluation, and improvement of our child safe practices.
What does Standard 10 require?
In practical terms, Standard 10 ensures that:
This means we don’t just set policies in place and forget them. Instead, we treat child safety as a dynamic area of our practice and one that we must regularly question, test, and strengthen.
What does this look like at Kingswood?
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, this year we have sought feedback from our staff, students and families about how safe they feel and where we can improve. This feedback directly informs our reviews and helps us ensure our practices remain not only compliant but also reflective of the needs and voices of our community. This standard is a reminder that child safety is never a “set and forget” responsibility; it’s a continuous journey. As we head towards 2025 and the 135th year of our College, we recommit ourselves to not just meeting minimum standards but exceeding them, guided by our values of respect, courage, kindness, perseverance and excellence.
If you ever have a concern or suggestion related to child safety, I encourage you to reach out. Together, we all play a role in making Kingswood College a safe place to learn and grow.
At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
