At Kingswood College, our strategic plan isn’t just a document; it’s a promise. A promise to live out our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds, and to ensure every member of our community feels seen, valued, and connected. One of the key pillars guiding this vision is Strong Connections, and we are proud to say we are bringing this pillar to life in real and meaningful ways.
We are dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive, and connected community. That means building relationships that matter and establishing structures that support genuine partnership between families and the College.
One such structure, the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) is a dynamic, welcoming, and integral part of our community fabric. This year, we’re thrilled to report that we now have a Year Level Representative for every year from Prep to Year 12. This is a significant milestone in our journey to strengthen the parent-school partnership. Each of these reps plays an important role in welcoming new families, building community spirit, and supporting events and initiatives that bring people together.
In fact, we now have a dedicated PFA page in every newsletter, a regular spotlight on the wonderful work being done, the events being planned, and the opportunities for parents to get involved.
Last week’s update was full of celebrations: the establishment and appointment of our new Class Representatives Coordinator, the welcoming of our new Prep and Year 3 Class Reps, and a huge thank you to every parent who has stepped up to help build these essential connections. From coffee catch-ups and social drinks to the much-anticipated PFA Trivia Night, our calendar is bursting with chances to connect. Whether it’s enjoying a free coffee and muffin before school or sharing a laugh at trivia hosted by Melbourne comedy legend Janet McLeod, there is something for everyone.
These events are more than fun—they are the threads that weave our community together.
Looking ahead, we are building excitement for a significant community event: the 135th Year Gala Ball. Taking place on Saturday, 30 August at the stunning Plaza Ballroom, this evening of celebration will bring together parents, staff, alumni and friends for a night of connection, elegance, and entertainment. Hosted by respected journalist Virginia Trioli and featuring the sensational Raleigh Williams and her band, it promises to be unforgettable.
So, what can you do?
Get involved. Say yes to a coffee catch-up. Join a Class Rep arranged activity. Come along to a trivia night or book a table for the Gala Ball. Whether you have five minutes or five hours to spare, there’s a place for you. These moments of connection might seem small, but they are what make our community strong.
Together, we are building something special. Together, we are living out our commitment to Strong Connections. And together, we are creating the kind of community that every student and every family deserves.
We hope to see you soon.
At Kingswood College we proudly work to fulfil our vision to embolden hearts and inspire minds in a nurturing environment, on land that holds deep cultural significance to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and honour their Elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all First Nations people. Whenever we gather, and wherever we gather, we extend respect and dignity to the first inhabitants of our country and acknowledge the truth about the country on which our school has stood and now stands.
